Free EV Charging in Westchester County

Genuine, verified free and no-cost charging locations around the county — no invented port counts, just real programs and stations we could confirm.

Most public EV charging comes with a per-kWh or per-hour cost, but a growing number of locations in and around Westchester offer charging at no cost — usually funded through a grant, a county sustainability initiative, or a site host absorbing the cost. Here’s what we could actually verify.

Westchester County Center — White Plains

County Center South Parking Lot

Free · 25 Stations Westchester County installed 25 new EV charging stations here, offering free charging for up to 50 electric vehicles at a time. The project was funded through a $115,000 Clean Energy Communities Grant from NYSERDA.

Free to event attendees, mass transit commuters, Bicycle Sunday participants, and visitors to the Bronx River Parkway Reservation walk and bike trail.

Note: County Center parking lots are for permit holders only, unless a resident is specifically using the EV chargers.

Why county parks show up here: Westchester County has an ongoing program installing EV chargers at county-owned parks and golf courses (including past installations at Hudson Hills Golf Course, with plans for others), separate from the County Center project above. Blue Mountain Reservation appears to be part of that broader parks-based charging effort.

A Note on “Free” ChargePoint Stations

Worth understanding: many “free” stations on ChargePoint are free because the property owner (a county, a business, a municipality) chooses not to charge a fee — not because ChargePoint itself is free. This means pricing can change if the site host later decides to start charging. Always check the current status in the ChargePoint app before counting on a specific station being free.

Rather than try to maintain a complete list ourselves — which would inevitably go stale — the most reliable way to find current free charging is:

Your municipality’s own website — many towns list free chargers at libraries, town halls, or municipal lots
